So many different types of window solutions are present in Aussie markets, but people have always seen roller blinds as the most promising solution. These blinds have become a great way to add privacy and enhance the style of any interior. However, regular maintenance and cleaning is mandatory to keep these blinds and their fabrics looking like new for years and years. Not doing this can allow dirt to build up and stubborn marks to present there and soon become an eyesore for anyone. This can be prevented with regular cleaning, and some dos and don'ts are also there to follow to keep them looking pristine for more and more years. Some easy-to-take steps in this regard are discussed below in this post.

GENERAL FABRIC CARE

Regular cleaning is must for your roller blinds fabrics. Regular cleaning means dusting the fabric and the base bar regularly, inspecting them for dirt build-up regularly and removing the dirt present there. Feather dusters and vacuum cleaners are both immensely useful in cleaning their fabric. For stubborn dirt, you can use masking tape to press down the area and let it off. As far as the base bar is concerned, vendors of roller blinds recommend cleaning with a feather duster or a vacuum cleaner and stubborn dirt can be removed by wiping using a damp cloth.

FOR SPOT CLEANING

Spot cleaning is also mandatory to keep panel blinds and roller blinds in perfect shape forever. Remember that marks will make your roller blinds look dirty, and the aesthetic appeal and looks will be ruined completely. Any spot must be cleaned using simple cleaning tips. Experts recommend testing the cleaning solution initially to ensure that it is safe for your roller blind.

SUNSCREEN FABRICS

  • Wiping the fabric gently with a sponge and a mild detergent is recommended to clean sunscreen fabrics.

  • You must never use solvent or rub the fabric, as this can cause permanent damage to roller blinds.

TRANSLUCENT OR BLOCK-OUT FABRICS

Gentle cleaning and wiping the fabric softly with damp sponge is recommended for block out fabrics as well. You can apply a very soft dishwashing gel to remove stubborn marks from the fabric.

It is recommended to not use solvent or rub the fabric at all.

AVOID THE FOLLOWING WHEN CLEANING YOUR BLINDS:

  • Taking roller blinds off their brackets to clean them.

  • Soaking your roller blinds in a bathtub.

  • Scrubbing or rubbing your blinds fabric.

  • Anything that suggests using solvents or alcohol to clean your blinds.
